Dear wonderful person,
How have you been? How is this
new phase of your life treating you; convey my salutation to your parents.
Today I was asked to work from
the house in the night shift, summer warmth at its peak and temperature to its
limits, fixing the old table fan I placed the fan on the right of my table with
my doors and windows open, stretching the hinges. The meeting started it was a
2-hour long product management training but life has its spin the bottle game,
we were in the meeting of and about 25 minutes the power of my house was
disconnected, I immediately removed my cell phone and connected with mobiles
hotspot though I was told to arrange some battery backup in case of some
urgencies. I was proud of the current system of my locality that’s why I didn’t
arrange any backups. Soon I received a text from the telecom company saying my
internet’s data has completed 100%. I checked in my text message box whether it
was a planned power cut or just a wish power cut. “This message is to tell you,
your area will be having three hours of power cut” the announcement was made in
the whole city setting for different time zones. I gave my head on the cushion
cursing my lazy attitude for not reading the text message. The manager called
asking “where are you?” what could I reply, I took a deep breath and said,
“Sir, actually I have a power cut in my area, I won’t be able to attend the
meeting, sorry”. Sir exhaled and his exhaled air had anger which I could feel.
“No problem and by the way happy birthday, I know you won’t lie to me about any
party at your house for which you are making excuses,” He said and disconnect
the call. “Wow, it’s my birthday, how can I forget my own birthday,” I said
closing the flap of my laptop. It was 12 my cell phone started ringing it was
my parents wishing me and giving me their blessing. After talking to my parents
I opened the internet messenger waiting for your text but my heart skip a beat
remembering we are not in that phase who exchange birthday wishes. "Remember one
beautiful birthday of mine where you traveled on your gearless bike carrying a
small red cake. You had called all of our friends to celebrate. After the cake
cutting ceremony, you removed a pack from your backpack asking me to unwrap the
paper. It was a brown checks shirt" which I still have. I wear it when I feel
discomfort or uneasy, it makes me lose the tension and work comfortably.
Today I couldn’t even become sad
for you not texting me. Well this is what life is all about expectations are
very exciting but at the same time, they are tedious. Wishing me a Happy
Birthday.
I hope you don't read this
because you may revisit those memories and waste your time.
Bye for now and have a marvelous life ahead.
And if we meet ever, while passing on the party place. Pass a smile and continue
walking.
