Be serious about  your work but don't take your self too seriously. Things in world requires your time, requires your potential. You should not work according to situations, Situation should work according to you. Going easy doesn't means stop focousing on your self it's just about accepting things which are not for you. Those things are not written in your destiny. Well If you don't accept things then you have to have great confidence about your hardwork. It's okay to be a accepting sprite. That will atleast help you know what is good for you and what is not. It's dangerous to sail in two unknown boats at same time, sailing in one known boat will allow you to reach your destination not fast but save. We need to learn to let go things which we think are important but they are not. You want to be something which you think you can have but your interst drives you towards the opposite. That means if you do that thing which you don't have interest to do today or tomorrow you are going to leave it.
